Bundle Dye Workshop with Ms. Amy Taylor - Feb. 9
Learn about the art, science, and sustainability of natural dyeing using fresh flowers with Ms. Amy Taylor at Indigo & Violet Studio.
In this 3-hour workshop, we will explore the whimsical practice of dyeing with fresh flowers directly onto silk to create gorgeous watercolor-esque designs. Using all-natural materials, we will experiment with various botanicals to create beautiful, sustainable fabrics, and learn the history and uses of natural dyes.
This workshop is for anyone interested in learning how to create and work with natural colors in an eco-friendly, sustainable way. Students will walk away with a naturally dyed silk scarf and instructions on how to re-create this practice at home. No experience necessary. One silk scarf will be provided, but students are free to bring additional natural fibers they’d like to play with. We will send you home with bundled wet fabric to set overnight and rinse the following day.
Sunday, February 9 - 3-6pm @ Indigo & Violet Studio - 1411 W. Irving Park Rd.
What's included in every ticket:
- 1 silk scarf/person is included (35"x35"). Feel free to bring other natural fiber pieces to dye as well. (silk, cotton, linen work best).
- Flowers and all dyeing materials will be provided - we'll be experimenting in the pink and purple color families in honor of Valentine's Day this month.
- Feel free to bring your own bites or bring a bottle of wine or bubbly to enjoy during this BYOB event.
