Intro Embroidery Workshop - Feb. 26

Regular price $60

Join us for an intro embroidery workshop with Nithya of mydecorify at Indigo & Violet Studio!

Learn the basics of embroidery with this mydecorify kit and workshop! BYO-item to stitch on after we've practiced stitching on a piece of woven fabric. To minimize waste we invite you to bring something you already have like a hat, tote, t-shirt, sweatshirt, or jeans to embellish with new stitches! Cotton and woven fabrics will work best over items with a lot of stretch.

We will start with practice stitches, leaves, and flowers - then you will be able to sketch your design onto your item or tote bag ($5) and begin creating. The great part of this workshop is that you can take home the DIY kit to continue embroidering at home!

No sewing or embroidery experience is required. Share this link with your creative friends and make a crafty evening of it! As part of our crafts that care initiative, we're be donating 10% of tickets and in-studio mydecorify product purchases to a local cause chosen by Nithya - read more about Apna Ghar below.

Sunday, February 26 - 3-5pm at Indigo & Violet Studio - 1411 W. Irving Park Rd. Chicago, IL

Meet Nithya and mydecorify:

Hi! I'm Nithya, a digital artist, and business owner, and I am so excited to be bringing my passion for art to all of you through these workshops! I have been painting since a very young age and I also enjoyed DIY crafts like jewelry-making and mod-podge collages. I continued painting through high school and college and even took a few art classes to keep practicing and learn new mediums. I then began creating digital art during the pandemic and naturally gravitated towards South Asian fashion and incorporated Mandalas, traditional South Asian dresses, and henna designs into my art pieces.

Through that journey, I discovered my passion for crafts and DIY and saw a gap in the creative world between scrolling on Pinterest and going to craft stores to actually buy the supplies. Oftentimes a lot of those surplus supplies would get wasted after one project so my curated DIY kits include the right amount of supplies and nothing more. After creating initial DIY kits for my site, I added my digital art to my shop as prints, stickers, and notebooks and it's been amazing being able to showcase my culture alongside the other products. I can't wait to expand and add more DIY kits and continue to grow and make more art.
