Join Sew Choice for an intro to embroidery, with love!

An orientation to hand embroidery for beginners, this class follows a Valentine-themed sampler pattern. As a holiday bonus, the workshop includes stick & stitch extras for embellishing a gift or garment of your own.

Feel free to bring a vintage handkerchief or similar item to try it out before taking your materials home! All supplies provided, including needle, thread, fabric, 6" hoop, and water-soluble pattern stickers. 

Participants will learn four basic stitch techniques:

• Straight stitch
• Back stitch
• Whipped back stitch
• Chain stitch

*Note: If you bring an item to embroider, choose something relatively lightweight with minimal stretch (the inside/back of fabric should also be accessible for your hand to maneuver). A canvas tote bag, cotton/linen/flannel clothing item, hat, or bandana all work well. Avoid leather, thick denim, small pouches, or pockets.

Jean Ogilvie is the artist behind Sew Choice, a modern stitch shop supplying hand embroidered gifts for laughs and uplift.

Jean's mission is to empower others to embrace slow fashion and build community, where people and resources are valued. She offers one-of-a-kind embroidery art, DIY stick-and-stitch products, and local workshops.
