Produce Bag Sew-in - March 23
Join us on the path to a plastic-free farmers market!
Help sew produce bags for the upcoming market season with OPA!
We are making reusable, drawstring fabric produce bags to offer as gifts to shoppers at farmers markets to hold their produce items instead of plastic bags. We aspire to start shoppers on the path of reusable containers. This is a fully volunteer operation using donated fabrics. Participants are welcome to bring and donate any fabrics they might have.
Sew-in tasks include cutting fabric, ironing, machine sewing, and inserting draw strings - there's a task for all skill levels! No experience needed. Come alone or bring a friend and enjoy a night of community creativity.
Monday, March 23, 2026 - 6-8pm at Indigo & Violet Studio - 1411 W. Irving Park Rd. Chicago, IL

Meet Organizing for Plastics Alternatives (OPA):
OPA is a citizens’ initiative to publicize the problems associated with single-use
plastics and develop policy solutions to decrease or eliminate their use.
We focus our efforts primarily on the Chicago area but coordinate with organizations working at the state, national, and global level.
